Stay and Play

Every half term we invite our parents and carers into Class 1 to ‘Stay and Play’. It is a well-attended event loved by adults and children alike. Parents get the opportunity to see their children happy and busy in the classroom. They gain more of an understanding of how the learning happens through a mix of play in our enabling environment and planned activities both inside and out. The children love to show parents around their classroom and involve them as they play and learn. We have children and their adults making sandcastles; junk modelling; learning the latest phonics sounds as they play ‘teachers’; painting together; reading stories in our book corner’ making breakfast in our home corner or playing turn-taking games such as dominoes. We all come together at the end to share songs, stories and poems.
